The office of South Australian Senator Nick Xenophon has contacted ANUSA ticket Nick Xenophon Team 4 ANUSA, accusing the ticket of breaching fair use provisions of copyright law and infringing on the Senator’s intellectual property.
‘Your page was unauthorised and no permission was sought nor granted to use the name nor images of Senator Nick Xenophon,’ Frank Pangallo wrote on behalf of the Senator’s office to the ticket’s Facebook page.
‘Senator Xenophon is a member of the Australian Parliament and is taking this infringement of his rights seriously. Should action be taken to remove it, Senator Xenophon reserves his rights in this matter,’ Pangallo’s message said, a screenshot of which was posted by the ticket’s page.
The Nick Xenophon Team 4 ANUSA has hit back on their public Facebook profile, accusing former Today Tonight journalist Pangallo of spreading ‘fake news’, saying that, ‘Nick Xenophon runs this page.’
The office of Senator Nick Xenophon has been contacted for comment.
