Over the duration of the 4th and 5th of May, ten members from the Australian National University swim team will compete in the annual 24 hour multiple sclerosis (MS) mega swim to be held at the AIS swimming pool in Belconnen. The mega swim operates by one member of the team having to be swimming in the water continuously over the duration of 24 hours. Along the way each team is also encouraged to fundraise for MS Australia. MS Australia aims to minimize the impact of multiple sclerosis on all individuals affected by the disease, their families, careers and the community by offering a wide range of assistance, services and equipment. This will be the second year the swim club has competed in the charity event after successfully having two teams finish last year.
The ANU swimming club is a social swimming club that caters from all types of ability from competitive to lap swimming. Training times are 7:30-8:30 am on Monday and Wednesday mornings, 7:15-815 pm on Tuesday nights and 9-10am on Saturdays. Sessions are held at civic pool (only a short ride from uni) and new members are welcome to attend.
We acknowledge the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people, who are the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Woroni, Woroni Radio and Woroni TV are created, edited, published, printed and distributed. We pay our respects to Elders past and present. We acknowledge that the name Woroni was taken from the Wadi Wadi Nation without permission, and we are striving to do better for future reconciliation.
